Combur-test

Construction

  • The reagent paper covered with a nylon net and an absorbent paper underneath are fixed to a stable carrier foil without the use of glue

 

Nylon net

  • Ensures uniform penetration of the urine into the test fields
  • Supports homogeneous color development
  • Fixes the test patches to the carrier foil without the use of adhesives and prevents color distortions on the carrier foil caused by adhesives
  • Protects the test fields from contamination

 

Absorbent paper

  • Absorbs excess urine, thereby preventing chemical interactions due to crossover of reagents from adjacent test fields

 

Strong carrier film

  • Gives the test strip high stability, preventing urine splashing, e.g. when the test is wiped off the specimen container
  • Enables safe, hygienic work

 

Sensitivity

  • The practical detection limit is designed in such a way that even minor pathological changes close to the detection limit lead to clear color changes in the test fields
  • Vitamin C suppression largely prevents false-negative results in the blood and glucose test fields: In a comparison of five commonly used urine test strips, Combur test showed the strongest resistance to vitamin C

 

Test evaluation - except Combur 10 M

  • Reading takes place simultaneously for all test fields after 60 seconds reaction time
  • Easy to perform using the lightfast color comparison scale made of high-quality lacquer printing
  • Evaluation in immersion direction: The strip is held vertically downwards against the test strip tube for color comparison - no urine runs over the fingers
